One of the Richest Women in America

When she was just 23 years old, Alice Anotinette De Lamar became one of the richest women in America.

The only child of Captain Joseph Rafael De Lamar, Alice was the heir to her father’s fortune when he died in 1918.

Alice De Lamar  went on to lead a life that was both glamorous and down-to-earth, becoming friends with the major artists, actors, dancers, and writers of her day, including Ernest Hemingway, F Scott Fitzgerald, Gerald and Sara Murphy, George Balanchine, and Eve LeGallienne.
